5 years. Bar Bundle has completed 5 years today! If the journey so far can be encapsulated in one word, it is this: Resilience. Even when COVID-19 struck and put the entire world at a standstill, including shaking the very core foundations of what the hospitality industry is built on, we kept going. Even in our darkest hour when careers were halted, bars shut down one after another across continents, and uncertainty gripped our industry, we found ourselves pivoting to whatever projects were available or focusing on building something entirely new.
We chose belief over uncertainty. We chose hope over despair. We chose resilience over giving up. We got up, pulled up our socks, and build bars from scratch with absolutely no guarantees of the future. We held on to an unshakable belief that was strengthened by ample support from our family and a close nit of friends. We are grateful for their unwavering support and love.
The first two years were seeped in turmoil and marked with ambiguity. They were peppered with seeds of doubt, sharp downturns, which ultimately gave way to growth, blessings, and finally led to breakthroughs. We had the privilege to work with brands that eventually became pillars in our commercial journey.
Varun extends a heartfelt thank you to Mathieu Teisseire India and In A Can Cocktails for trusting our vision and stabilizing us when we needed it the most. He and his team also thank every hospitality partner across India that we had the honor of working with and who shared our name to their peers and colleagues.
Bar Bundle was born from a belief in raising the standards of the hospitality industry in India by building better bars, creating meaningful conversations, and elevating the beverage conversation. It wasn’t just about consulting or simply crafting appetizing drinks on a bar’s menu.
Besides building resilience and working with a slew of interesting bars and brands, Bar Bundle also launched an education program at Madhushala School of Beverages. Named the Beverage Program, this industry-focused program was designed to empower and upskill professionals in the industry. Moreover, we published a textbook for the program that contributed to a structured beverage education.
In a bid to capture the growing bartending culture of India and all the creative and hardworking people in it, Bar Bundle launched a series of blogs through our website. Knowing people from the bar industry and the lessons they carry through their arduous journey offers a unique perspective into the everchanging landscape of our industry. The blogs are written by three amazing women who do not come from the bartending industry but are clearly interested in the nuances of it. Besides the writers, we are grateful to the Jetup33 website developers who have built the website and managed these blogs.
While the five years have been brilliant and a rollercoaster ride filled with trials, tribulations, blessings and growth, we look forward to the next five years of our journey. Belief, courage and collaboration will always be at the heart of everything we do.
